Saved drafts

Up to 10 drafts are kept; the oldest is dropped.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Results are estimates based on the rates shown. Your actual fees depend on your agreement with the provider.

    How to use it

    1. Add your business details and logo, then your client's details, the invoice number and the dates.
    2. Add line items with quantity and unit price. Add a discount and a sales tax rate if they apply, and a payment link if you have one.
    3. Check the preview, then download the PDF or print it. Save a draft if you want to reuse it.

How the invoice totals are calculated

Each line is quantity times unit price. The subtotal is the sum of the lines. A discount, either a percentage of the subtotal or a fixed amount, comes off the subtotal. Sales tax is then charged on the discounted amount, and the total is the discounted amount plus tax. If part has already been paid, the balance due is the total minus the amount paid. Every amount is rounded to the cent.

Worked example: two lines, 2 × $50.00 and 1 × $19.99, make a subtotal of $119.99. A 10% discount takes off $12.00, leaving $107.99. With sales tax at 8.25%, the tax is $8.91 and the total is $116.90.

This tool does not look up sales tax. Enter the rate that applies to your sale. A sales tax calculator for state rates is planned.

    Frequently asked questions

    What should an invoice include?

At minimum: your business name and contact details, your client's name, a unique invoice number, the issue and due dates, a description of what you are charging for with quantities and prices, the total, and how to pay. Requirements can differ by state and by the kind of work, so check with an accountant if unsure.

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes, and it runs in your browser: your business and client details, logo and line items are not uploaded to us. They are saved only in your own browser storage if it is available.

How does the payment link work?

Paste a link to wherever your client can pay, for example a payment page from your processor or bank. The PDF prints it as a clickable link with a QR code. We do not take or process payments.

Can I add sales tax to an invoice?

Yes: enter your sales tax rate and it is applied to the amount after any discount. This tool does not know which rate you owe, so use the rate that applies to your sale. This is general information, not tax advice.

    Where are my drafts saved?

In your browser's local storage on this device. Clearing site data, using a private window or a different browser or device means they will not be there, so download the PDF of anything you need to keep.

Why did some characters in my PDF turn into question marks?

The PDF uses standard fonts that cover Latin characters. Characters outside that range are replaced with a question mark.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
